Areas of Expertise
______________
Individual Counseling for Children, Adolescents, & College Students

Anxiety
Anxiety in children can manifest in many forms, including excessive worry about social interactions, fear of taking tests, concern about performance in sports or arts, or experiencing sudden, intense panic attacks. If your child often seems overly nervous or fearful in these situations, they might benefit from support in managing anxiety.
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
OCD is characterized by unwanted, persistent thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors (compulsions) that the child feels driven to perform. If your child is stuck in patterns of excessive washing, checking, or other rituals, and these actions significantly interfere with daily life, OCD support might be needed.
Adhd
ADHD is marked by an ongoing pattern of inattention and/or hyperactivity-impulsivity that interferes with functioning or development. If your child has difficulty focusing, sitting still, or completing tasks, and these issues are consistent across different settings, ADHD might be a concern.
Depression
Depression goes beyond occasional sadness or mood swings; it’s a persistent feeling of sadness, loss of interest in activities, or a noticeable decrease in energy or motivation. If your child is showing signs of withdrawal, persistent sadness, or a significant change in eating or sleeping habits, they may be experiencing depression.
Autism Spectrum Disorder
Autism Spectrum Disorders are a range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech, and nonverbal communication. If your child struggles with understanding social cues, resists changes in routine, or has intense interests in specific topics, they might be on the autism spectrum.
Executive Functioning Issues
Executive functioning involves skills like planning, organizing, managing time, and paying attention. Children with executive functioning issues may struggle with keeping track of homework, managing their time effectively, or following complex instructions.

Grief & Loss
Grieving the loss of a loved one or dealing with significant life changes can be overwhelming for children. If your child is struggling to cope with feelings of sadness, anger, or confusion following a loss, they may benefit from support in navigating their grief.
Coping with Chronic Illness/Pain
Living with a chronic illness or persistent pain can significantly affect a child’s mood, daily activities, and overall well-being. If your child is struggling to adjust to life with a chronic condition, they may need support in developing coping mechanisms.
Social Skills Training
Social skills are crucial for making friends, communicating effectively, and participating in group activities. If your child struggles with understanding social cues, initiating interactions, or feels anxious about social situations, social skills training can provide them with the tools they need.
Stress Management
Stress management is important for children who feel overwhelmed by school, social, or family pressures. If your child seems constantly anxious, has trouble sleeping, or is irritable without a clear cause, learning strategies to manage stress can be beneficial.
Behavioral Difficulties
Behavioral difficulties include a wide range of issues, from acting out in school to aggression or defiance at home. If your child is frequently involved in conflicts, has trouble following rules, or exhibits challenging behavior, they might need assistance in developing better behavioral strategies.
Emotional Regulation
Emotional regulation is the ability to manage and respond to an emotional experience in an appropriate manner. Children who have difficulty calming down, experience intense emotional reactions, or struggle to express their feelings appropriately may need help in developing better emotional regulation skills.
Anger Management
Anger management is essential for children who have difficulty controlling their temper or who react aggressively when upset. If your child’s anger seems out of proportion to the situation or leads to behavioral issues, they may benefit from learning healthier ways to manage their emotions.
Low Self-esteem
Low self-esteem can manifest as a lack of confidence, negative self-talk, or reluctance to try new things. If your child often speaks negatively about themselves or avoids challenges, they might need support in building a stronger sense of self-worth.
Psychoeducational Evaluation Services
______________
Identify your child’s strengths and weaknesses

Gifted Evaluations
Gifted evaluations are designed to identify children who show significantly advanced intellectual capabilities compared to their peers. This assessment examines a child’s reasoning, problem-solving abilities, and overall intellectual potential, helping to tailor educational programs that challenge and engage gifted learners.
Autism Spectrum Disorders
An evaluation for Autism Spectrum Disorders assesses a child’s social interaction, communication skills, and behavior patterns to identify signs of autism. This comprehensive assessment aids in understanding a child’s unique strengths and challenges, facilitating appropriate support and interventions.
Specific Learning Disabilities (Reading, Writing and Math)
Evaluations for specific learning disabilities focus on identifying challenges a child may face in reading (dyslexia), writing (dysgraphia), or mathematics (dyscalculia). These assessments help to pinpoint the specific areas of difficulty, enabling targeted interventions that can improve academic skills and confidence.
Attention-Defecit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
ADHD evaluations are conducted to identify symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity that affect a child’s functioning in various settings, such as at home and in school. The results can guide strategies for management and support, including educational accommodations and behavioral interventions.
